The fifth annual Lighting for Tomorrow competition attracted a slew of beautiful new designs in energy-efficient lighting, including 45 solid state lighting (SSL) models incorporating light-emitting diodes and 33 models using compact fluorescent lighting. |

Lighting for Tomorrow will once again recognize excellence in design of energy-efficient residential lighting fixtures. The 2007 competition will include separate categories for indoor and outdoor fixture families using pin-based compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), LED-based fixtures, and a special "cutting edge" design category. |

Eight fixtures were selected for recognition in this first Solid State Lighting Competition. Winners included two undercabinet fixtures, one portable desk/task light, and one outdoor fixture. Honorable mentions included one undercabinet, two in-cabinet lights, and one handrail/step light. Winners will be displayed at the DOE SSL Workshop in Phoenix January 31 - February 2, 2007. |

Twelve manufacturers were honored by Lighting for Tomorrow in the third Yearbook Competition. A total of 26 designs were recognized by a panel of judges that included lighting professionals and retailers, journalists, homebuilders and energy-efficiency program administrators. Awards were presented at the American Lighting Association Annual Conference in Las Vegas on September 12, 2006. |

Yearbook competition, in which the best designs for new, decorative, residential light fixture families meeting the requirements of the ENERGY STAR Residential Light Fixture program (i.e., compact fluorescent fixtures) will be chosen by a panel of expert judges and lighting showrooms. |
